For those of you that haven't been to the site and met Ella, she has cerebral Palsy and uses an Eyegaze for her communications, from which she is chopsy as hell. The electric power chair she uses for getting around has offered her a level of independence, However, there is a big element of life that these chairs just aren't very good at...... Nature. These chairs just do not handle surfaces that are not roads or pavements (even some pavements are iffy) very well at all. Due to the weight of the current chair and lack of tread to the wheels, she has found herself stuck in the mud more times than I have shot BBs. Gravel is a nightmare, as it just moves out the way, rather than the wheels moving over it. Woodland, too uneven for the chair to handle. Sand..... sand is the best (sarcasm), she just sinks, then you have to find 5 strong individuals to lift her and the chair to firmer ground.

As you can imagine this isn't ideal, it's even worse when family or friends invite you to celebrate events at such locations. Nature is free and should be able to be enjoyed by everyone.

Ella is very free spirited and takes joy from the simplest of things in life but is restricted by the ability of her body and capabilities of the technologies she has access too. She would delight at a country walk, beam at a drive around our airsoft site without worry of getting stuck and she would likely shed a tear of joy if she could drive onto the sand to watch a sunset over the sea horizon. All of these things you could achieve with ease and maybe even take for granted.
